Estimate the impact on your pension

You can use our pension calculator to estimate the effect on your final pension here.

This tool, produced by the Government Actuary’s Department, will show how the proposed changes might affect your pension.

How to use the pension calculator

1. The pension calculator will ask you for some basic information, such as:

  • your date of birth
  • when you joined HCAPS
  • your pensionable salary

You can find this information in your annual benefits statement on OneView.

2. The calculator will show an estimate of the pension and other benefits you might be able to expect at different retirement ages.

3. You can try varying some elements, such as the rate your salary grows or the amount of tax-free cash you choose to take, and see how these variations might change your pension and benefits.

Important notes

The pension calculator helps you compare different scenarios and get estimated figures based on your personal retirement planning. The results are only an estimate based on the figures you enter. You should not base important financial decisions about your pension purely on estimates like these.

The pension calculator is only for guidance. It cannot offer financial advice. For that, please contact an independent financial adviser.
